We are so excited to celebrate National Farmers Market Week with you this weekend! Over the past 11+ years, our farmers market community has continued to showcase adaptability in our rapidly changing world. While farmers markets have always been essential to our local food systems, in this moment of widespread changes, we want to also recognize the ways in which farmers markets are essential tools for shaping our worlds, and how they bring about important opportunities for us to learn, grow and work together. More than ever, we need places where people can come together. Farmers markets are designed in partnership with the people they serve, creating a space where market operators, farmers, shoppers and neighbors can collaborate to meet the evolving needs of our communities.

What comes to mind when you think of farmers markets? Ripe seasonal produce, colorful flowers, freshly baked bread and music? While local farmers markets may have an immediate positive impact on your weekend mood, they also have an invaluable impact on our broader community and local food system. In fact, farmers markets’ collective role in building healthy communities and prosperity for farmers and small businesses inspired the US Department of Agriculture in 1999 to proclaim the first week of August, National Farmers Market Week! For the last 24 years, we’ve celebrated farmers markets at the peak of summer. This year, join Cobblestone Farmers Market and markets across the country in celebration August 6-12...okay, technically we're starting our "party" a little early because there is just SO MUCH GOOD STUFF to share!

SUMMER ABUNDANCE // The official start of summer may land next week but it has arrived early at CFM with familiar favorites like cucumbers, squash and zucchini beginning to roll in - we are thrilled to start whipping up some summer seasonal dishes! Of course, it also has us anticipating corn, tomatoes and blueberries - which are so close we can almost taste them - but the gradual tease allows us to keep forecasting forward what our producers provide us. Our farmers are planning months ahead, even into next year to bring the best to our tables so let's show them our appreciation by showing up and LOADING UP because the gettin' is always GOOD!
