COME AND GET IT!
This weekend's market is pretty much COME AND GET IT! From what we can see, the next few weeks our incredible producers will have a crazy FABULOUS amount of the tastiest food and beverage coming on, summer favorites and new traditions of trying something new at market every week including the plethera of breakfast/brunch items pumped out by all of the bakers! Tea, coffe and kombucha never had such perfect companions!
A couple of new items...peaches and plums...are rare for a sustainable market to carry! We lucked up with these stone fruits, especially the plums as they are not predictable, so when they come, go get 'em! Fresh and juicy, also lovely in tarts and clafouti!
Taking advantage of the bounty, we are stocking up our freezers and pantries with the best winter basics. Easy items to freeze are berries and peaches as well as anything roasted - tomatoes, squash and leeks for winter stews and sauces. We roast trays of cherry tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil, bag 'em up for the freezer for sauces and stews in the cooler months. Dive into 'extending the summer season' prep, you will be hooked in no time!
One of our go to blogs for recipe and tip ideas is Smitten Kitchen - here is the link that opens with pulled pork...yum!
