CFM Seedlings

Mission Statement

CFM Seedlings is a program that provides children the opportunity to connect with our local food system through fun and interactive activities such as crafts, educational games, cooking demonstrations, and more! Our goal is to encourage children to become active members of our local food community and to foster healthy, sustainable lifestyles in our youth.

INFO About the program

CFM Seedlings launched as a pilot program in the summer of 2022 and ran during our Wednesday Midweek Market. The program was such a success that we decided to expand it to our Saturday Markets! CFM Seedlings now runs alongside our GROW YOUR OWN home gardening program with kid’s activities scheduled every Saturday from March - May. You will also find a CFM Seedling activity on special event days like our Tomato Day, Pepper Day, and National Farmers Market Week Market!

Children of all ages are welcome to participate, but activities are designed for ages 4 - 12. There is no sign-up required to participate in CFM Seedling activities. All activities are free and operate on a rolling basis, which means that there is no start time for activities. Just come up to the CFM Seedling booth at any point during Market to participate. Every activity is designed to be interactive, educational, and quick!

While CFM leads some activities, most are sponsored and led by community collaborators such as Minglewood Nature Preserve, Forsyth County Public Library, WFU Campus Garden, Ivybrook Academy, Kaledieum, and more!

With a new activity each week, your kiddo will experience the many different sides of our food system! Some of the activities we have done so far include:

  • Planting Sunflower Seeds in Ice Cream Cones

  • Story Time

  • Salsa Making Demonstration

  • Educational Activity Packets on Composting

  • Decorate Your Own Seed Packet

  • Make Biodegradable Bird Feeders

  • Make Veggie Pizzasngs is a program that provides children the opportunity to connect with our local food system through fun and interactive activities such as crafts, educational games, cooking demonstrations, and more! Our goal is to encourage children to become active members of our local food community and to foster healthy, sustainable lifestyles in our youth.
