Seed Packets Evoke Dreams and Memories

seeds.JPEG

The returning magic of spring and emergence that is a renewed sense of faith in the full cycle of life on earth, a beginning and an end that connect and restore, revitalize.
How lucky are we that we have producers who nurture and regenerate this orb for us via Cobblestone every week, every season. How fabulous is it that the produce and fruit we choose each week has a NAME and a heritage!
How lucky are we that we have a seed bank right here in Winston-Salem, thanks to the Moravians who trekked here for and, water and a new life.
How lucky is it that we ( Beta Verde) can partner with Old Salem, in the spirit of Slow Food, and bring folks from Piedmont cities, towns and farms to share seeds and stories.
How lucky are we that Baker Creek Heirloom Seed partnered with us this year to increase the seed varietals available for newbie and veteran growers alike to propagate and GROW!
Get ready to shop at the market ( thank you for your ZEN patience with our tight space yet stunning winter bounty!) and then head on to the SEED SWAP, open 10-noon at the Old Salem Visitor Center ( details here ) with demos and info tables after the swap, YUMMY soup by Muddy Creek Cafe, and music leading up to Chris Smith, author of THE WHOLE OKRA at 1:30.
How lucky we are!
